Station #7 Firefighter Receives "Firemark" Award (09/03/09)

Company #7 firfighter Jeff Ashworth was recognized for his fire prevention efforts (outreach & education) on the 3rd of September by a representative of the Liberty Mutual Group.

Jeff is a veteran volunteer with the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Company, Station Seven.  For more that fifteen years he has organized  and  managed many, many fire prevention  and  life safety presentations in Hanover.  Firefighter Ashworth’s actions to increase awareness  and  promote fire safe behaviors are a great benefit to our citizens.

The Liberty Mutual Firemark Award was first introduced in 1986.  Today it continues to recognize firefighters throughout the country who best represent their communities through their valor  and  selfless spirit.

Ashland VFC Ribbon Cutting & Open House (09/03/09)

The Ashland Volunteer Fire Company will be holding an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Setptember 19th, from 10:00am until 2:00pm.

Fesitivities will be held at their new fire station located at 501 Archie Cannon Dr., in Ashland, off of North Washington Hwy.

There will be food and sodas, games, and entertainment (including bouncing tent and dunk tank) at no cost. Call 365-4901 for additional information.

Bowl-A-Thon to Benefit MDA!(08/17/09)

The Chikahominy Volunteer Fire Company Auxillary is sponsoring a bowl-a-thon to benefit the MDA. The event will be held at Hanover Lanes in Mechanicsville on Sept. 5th, from 4:30 until 8:00. The cost is $10 per person.
